Jacobs Well Appeal for Ukraine receive £10,000 donation from Daco Solutions

As the terrible situation in Ukraine continues to unfold, Daco Solutions Ltd supports the Jacobs Well Appeal in its efforts to provide support to those affected by the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Jacobs Well Appeal is providing aid such as medical supplies as well as other aid donated in the UK for the people of Ukraine.  Jacobs Well also have a long-standing partnership with the charity Ora. Ora, who is based in the Moldovan capital Chișinău have been distributing medical and humanitarian aid throughout the country for over 20 years and have received much help from Jacob’s Well over this time.  Ora is preparing to help feed, house and clothe the thousands of Ukrainian refugees who are fleeing into their country.

Daco Solutions shares close links with the Jacobs Well Appeal.  The Appeal was founded in 1982 and became a charity in 1984 by Dr Beryl Beynon, the mother of Daco Founder and Managing Director David Beynon.  The Appeal was founded to help first provide Medical Aid to Poland.  This work was expanded to eastern Europe through the construction of a rehabilitation centre and housing for the handicapped children in Romania who were abandoned to state care during the Ceauşescu regime.  Today the Appeal is now run by David’s brother, John Beynon and since 1984 Jacob’s Well Appeal has been working in over 30 countries, including Afghanistan, Romania, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Pakistan, Philippines and Kenya from their offices and large warehouse in Beverley.

So far, 160 pallets of 3m Silvercell dressings that can be used to treat burns and gunshot wounds have been kindly donated by the manufacturer 3M Health Care.  The first 100 pallets of dressings were loaded into two lorries destined for Ukraine.  These First Lorries should arrive in Ukraine on Monday 14th March.  This aid will be shipped through Romania, transferred into Ukrainian trucks on the border and then sent on to the hospitals in the war zone within Ukraine.

However, there is still more aid to be sent with more lorries scheduled to depart, around 23rd March.  These lorries will be filled with food, clothes, and toiletries as well as medical items destined for Ukraine.  These lorries will also be followed by the remaining 60 pallets of dressings, with each lorry costing almost £4,000 to send this much-needed aid to Ukraine.  The Jacobs Well Appeal is welcoming donations to help fund transport for this much-needed aid to Ukraine, with the aim of raising £25,000 in the next 3 to 4 weeks to ensure this vital aid can be shipped.
