Daco Solutions Designs Die Cutter With No Equivalent
UK label converting equipment manufacturer Daco Solutions, claims that the redesign of its PLD330 into a PLD350 rotary die cutter has delivered a machine with no equivalent in the plain label production market. “We resisted the temptation to just ‘stretch’ the 330mm web width into 350mm to the detriment of the performance,” says Sales Manager Mark Laurence. “We re-designed the machine from the bottom up.”
The PLD350 is a rotary die cutter with a semi-automatic turret that promises a 50% increase in capacity from its new 350mm web width. The new PLD incorporates new drive mechanisms; a bigger, heavy die station supported to ground level and a robust heavy duty auto cut and apply head. The difference in web width enables additional streams of labels to be produced at the same time. The PLD350 comes into its own on small roll runs because of the reduced downtime at roll changes and increasing the time the machine spends rewinding. Make ready has been timed at around 10 seconds by utilising job storage and then just mandrels, the relevant die needs to be changed and the slitting set.
