Mechatronics Engineer

Mechatronics Engineer – Daco Solutions are one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of machinery associated with the label and converting industry. Daco Solutions manufacture a wide range of both standard and bespoke machinery.
This role offers a unique opportunity to work on both the design and manufacture of new equipment as well as upgrade and support existing Daco equipment. The role is multi-disciplinary and will require understanding of both mechanical and electrical disciplines. Some of the key responsibilities are listed below.

Summary of Key Duties:

To be involved in each aspect of the delivery process from engineering concept, design, procurement, testing, installation/commissioning to final reporting of machine builds.
To manage and deliver projects independently.
To deliver electrical control panels for new and existing Daco product range.

Responsibilities:

Produce concepts, designs and engineering drawings through the use of 2D & 3D CAD systems.
Produce calculations to validate designs.
Travel to customer sites to provide service support and carry out retrofit installations.
Present work both in writing and verbally to a wide range of audiences, both technical colleagues and clients.
Procure both manufactured items and bought out components.
Program Motion Control Units using IEC 61131 and specific controller languages.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

Ideally be Degree/HND/HNC qualified within Electrical Engineering or Mechatronic / General Engineering.
Highly motivated, innovative and inquisitive with a strong ability to think creatively.
Willing to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Practical experience working with control panels.
Basic mechanical fitting experience for assembly and repair of sub-assemblies.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to read and understand technical information.
Ability to communicate well both technically and non-technically.
Ability to produce good written work and reports.
Understanding of the mechanical elements of design along with electrical and software control techniques.
Basic understanding of Machinery Directive and risk assessments.
Should be available for short overseas visits and occasional periods away from home (Installations, equipment upgrades, service work and repairs etc.).
